Mwea East Sub-County Police Commander John Onditi warmed the hearts of the Rivers of Joy Children's home in Wang'uru with a kind donation.
The donations delivered on Sunday, June 7 included flour, cooking oil, soap and other personal effects as a way of giving back to the society during the Covid-19 pandemic.
"We have come to donate during this Covid-19 time because since the pandemic started, a lot of things have been on a standstill.
"We got news that you have had challenges because of the pandemic and your food reserves have reduced.
Our officers mobilised themselves to contribute money to come and assist you and that is why we are here," noted Onditi.
In the wake of police brutality not only in the country but around the globe, the police officers from Wang'uru Police Station outdid themselves with the gesture.
The Commander noted that some officers were also brought up in children's homes and went on to study and have been successful in life.
He encouraged the children that they can also study, get good jobs and be successful in life, adding that being in children homes does not mean the end of life.
Before his transfer to Wang'uru, Onditi partnered with a church around Nairobi's Buruburu Estate to help street kids.
"I like charity work, when I was in Nairobi I joined a church and we took street children in Buruburu and started catering for them.
"When I left we had one in University, others were in College and others were in primary. Until now they still refer to me as their father because of how far we have come," stated Onditi.
The Police Commander provided further updates on the kids noting that they are fairing on well with others having talents in music and have released songs while others have also been employed in church.
He also spared time to encourage the kids by advising them to work hard as future leaders could rise from the children's home.
"You never know the President might come from here, others will be Cabinet Secretaries, others will be Principal Secretaries in our government. Have courage and work hard," concluded Onditi.
