Ministry of Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS), Dr. Rashid Aman on Monday, June 8, announced that 95 people had tested positive from 1,096 Coronavirus samples tested in the last 24 hours.
This brings the total tally to 2,862 confirmed Covid-19 cases from 98,439 samples tested since the pandemic hit the country.
The positive news was that the country recorded its highest number of recoveries so far as 97 turned negative bringing the total to 849.
There was some sad news with one patient in Nairobi succumbing from the deadly virus, bringing the total fatalities to 85.
Out of the 95 positive cases, 92 were Kenyans while the other three were foreign nationals.
The 95 cases are distributed in the country as follows, Mombasa 56 cases, Nairobi 13 cases, Busia 10 cases, Kajiado 6 cases, Kilifi 3 cases, Kitui, Kwale and Garissa each had one case.
Marsabit, therefore, becomes the latest county to report a Covid-19 positive case bringing the total number of counties to 38 out of the 47.
The cases in Mombasa were distributed in the Sub-Counties as follows, Mvita 22, Changamwe 13, Nyali 7, Kisauni 6, Likoni 5 and three from Jomvu.
In Nairobi, the 13 cases were from the following Sub-Counties, Kibra 10, Lang'ata, Kasarani and Dagoretti North had one case each.
In Busia, 9 of the 10 recorded cases were of truck drivers from the Malaba border point while the Busia border point had one case.
The six cases from Kajiado were from Kajiado Town 3, Kajiado East 2 and Kajiado North 1 while in Nyeri County all 3 cases were from healthcare workers in Nyeri Central.
In Kilifi, the 3 cases were from Kilifi North while the 1 case in Kitui was from Kitui Central.
Kwale had 1 case from Msambweni, Garissa's 1 case was from Dadaab while 1 case in Marsabit was from North Horr.
Males continue to record more positive cases as their tally on Monday was 57 while 38 were females with the youngest case being a one-year-old child and the oldest being 72.
