Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has explained the origin of an image that has been shared on social media showing him as a lifetime member of ODM Party.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke on June 10, he admitted that the photo of the certificate was real but had been offered to him in 2017.

“It's real but I joined ODM, stayed there for one week and left immediately to Jubilee in 2017 went ahead and won this seat,” he explained.

In 2017, the MP was given a direct nomination certificate by ODM to contest for Kimilili parliamentary seat.

“Before I made it public, President  Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto called me. I bought their ideology and decamped to Jubilee Party which I used and won the seat,” he added.

Barasa also hinted that he was considering running for a higher office in the upcoming 2022 General Election.

However, the Airforce Captain stated that he would have to consult with his constituents, “The sky is the limit. I go where my constituents will ask me to go. When it comes to decisions, I consult my people.”

“I might run for governor of Bungoma County if all factors are constant...only if there will be circumstances that will not make me face Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka or Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula.

“If its anybody else, I will roll up my sleeves and send them home as early as 7.30 am,” he pronounced.

Speaking on whether Jubilee would still his party of choice he stated that it would be depended on its manifesto and leadership.

“In terms of party, it all depends on the manifesto. Jubilee is being mutilated by political wheeler-dealers interested in getting rich quickly,” he criticised.

He accused them of using the fact that they operate within Harambee House corridors to swindle contractors and international investors.
