"He is still a big asset to this country and we will continue to use his expertise and his experience in harnessing the synergies of diversities of our thoughts and ideas for the greater good of this country," stated Kimunya.

The former Minister of Finance noted that he has been in a similar position before as Deputy Leader of Government Business in the 10th parliament and was up to the task.

"I have been in that position before as Deputy Leader of Government Business in the 10th parliament and I know what it means to be in the house every day," he added.

The MP observed that he had spent a lot of time with Duale in the leadership of the house, having served in House Business Committee and lauded his commitment.

With MPs convening from various parts of the country for the early 9 a.m gathering, Kimunya thanked all legislators who made time for the meeting.

The former Minister of Trade also expressed thanks to the President for entrusting his faith in him on the position.

"I want to thank his Excellency the President as the Party Leader for proposing me to take over as the New Leader of Majority in Parliament.

"It is a humbling situation because of the confidence he has shown for me to take on the leadership of the party in Parliament for the next two years as we move to the changeover," he stated.

The PG meeting was also attended by Deputy President Dr William Ruto, Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju and a total of 174 Jubilee Coalition Members of the National Assembly.

Kimunya termed the appointment as a great honour and promised to do his best to serve not only the party but also the country.
