Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura Mwaura displayed his compassionate side over the weekend when he stopped in the middle of the street in Githurai to help a hawker whose stock had been knocked down by a motorcycle.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, the senator disclosed that he had come to the area to help a homeless person when he bumped into the hawker who was in need of prompt assistance after the incident at the Githurai roundabout on Saturday, June 20, at around 12 p.m.
"The incident happened in Githurai. I had just come from helping two homeless people boost their businesses. One was a shoeshiner with no stock and the other was a hawker without a cart.
"I had seen a person whose oranges had been knocked down by a motorcycle and so I decided to mobilise people to help him," stated the senator.
In the video, the senator is seen taking part in collecting the oranges that had been spread across the busy road.
He was wearing a face mask while picking the fruits for the vendor back to his wheelbarrow with the help of other young men.
At some point, in the 40-second clip that was widely shared online, the lawmaker is heard asking other individuals who were mulling around to join in and help speed the rescue mission.
"We need to care for everybody and you know this era of Corona not many people have enough to go by," he told this writer.
Mwaura's gesture impressed many Kenyans online who referenced the apparent detachment many politicians have with the everyday Kenyan in the guise of Mheshimiwa.
