Duale: It Was Not Easy, But I Delivered

I came, I saw and I conquered, is Garissa Township Member of Parliament Aden Duale response after being ousted from the National Assembly Majority Leader position on Monday, June 22.

The MP revealed that he was leaving the position with a smile after major achievements in the position that saw his tenure last for seven years since 2013.

Duale also took the time to thank President Uhuru Kenyatta for the opportunity and equally thanked the Deputy President William Ruto and, members of the Jubilee Party and his family.

"Today marks the end of my seven years of service to the great people of Kenya as the Leader of Majority of the National Assembly. I was the first occupant of the seat under article 108 of the constitution.

"I am glad that from 2013-2020 I was able to process the agenda of the Majority Party effectively. In particular, I oversaw the passage of over 200 Bills and 500 Motions to mention but a few," noted Duale.

The former Dujis MP shared that he was proud as he was able to ensure that all the Bills for implementation of the Constitution, financial legislation to implement devolution and provide services to the people of Kenya and Bills to implement the Big Four Agenda were enacted.

Duale admitted that it was not an easy task as it required him to work with everyone from his foes and friends but with divine intervention he delivered.

The Legislator insisted that public positions were not to be personalized and added that when entrusted with positions, one ought to do their best and when the time comes to leave, one should do so with a smile.

He stated that he left with a smile, reflecting on what he was able to achieve after executing his duties with zeal.

To his successor as the National Assembly Majority Leader, Duale congratulated Kipipiri counterpart Amos Kimunya on his appointment. 

Duale also thanked Kenyans and for helping make history as the first Leader of Majority under the 2010 Constitution.

"Finally, I wish to thank all Kenyans for their support and in particular the great people of Garissa who I now look forward to continue working with for a great future.

"As the first Leader of Majority Party in the Constitution of Kenya 2010, I can now pen down this for history and record," he stated.

Duale was ousted from his position as the Majority Leader after a Jubilee Party Parliamentary group meeting convened by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday, June 22 at Kenyatta International Conference Center (KICC).
