Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe on Sunday, August 9, responded to calls by a section of politicians to resign and a video of his son, a hip-hop musician, partying.

A viral video of Kagwe's son partying sparked outrage from the public who noted that Kagwe was urging Kenyans to follow the Covid-19 guidelines, yet his own son was disregarding them.

In the video, Kahu Mburu Mutahi alias Kahu$h, is seen in a house party with a number of friends with several bottles of alcohol on one of the tables with little to no social distancing being observed.

Kagwe failed to deny or confirm whether it was indeed his son in the video curtly stating that all his sons were above 18 years and, as such, were accountable of their own decisions.

"On the issue you asked about my son, I do not have a son in my house who is less than 18 years old which means that they are adults, you can follow them and ask them," explained Kagwe.

Kagwe came under fire from politicians most notably former Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale who asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to fire him over the KEMSA scandal.

"The issue at KEMSA, we have read the same things you have read, we are aware investigations are going on so it started long before I got there. So the issue of anybody asking me to resign is what is called a pipe dream and they can continue dreaming.

"I'm not even aware who that is, but you can tell them to dream on," responded the Health Cabinet Secretary.

Khalwale claimed that Kagwe was clueless in combating the pandemic and named Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju, Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga and Suna East MP Junet Mohamed in the KEMSA scandal.

"President Uhuru, fire CS Kagwe he has no idea how to fight Covid. Western high schools' beds are not medical Covid-19 beds and finally KEMSA money paid to Raphael Tuju, Gladys Wanga and Junet Mohammed should be channelled back to Covid flight," stated Khalwale.

Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) Secretary-General Seth Panyako also asked for Kagwe to resign for failing to deal with corruption at Afya House.
