Raila Odinga's wife organised a fundraiser ceremony scheduled for Friday, August 28.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will be channelled towards the construction of Mama Ida Library and Resource Centre at Ogande Girls High School in Homa Bay County.

"The event will be both virtual and physical and details fo the fundraising are available on Mama Ida's website (idaodinga.co.ke)," a notice of the event reads.

The event will be held at Library buildings at Ogande Girls High School, from 2 pm to 6 pm.

Friends, corporates and well-wishers in Kenya can support the project through local banks and a pay bill account number.

Those in the diaspora community can also support the proposed project through a given account number.

Mama Ida studied and taught at the school before she was transferred to teach at the Kenya High School.

"While this resource centre will be physically domiciled at Ogande Girls and meant to inspire excellence among girls from the school and Nyanza region, I foresee it as a much larger dream.

"A shared resource with the larger community that goes beyond the brick and mortar that is the Library, to beyond or more than just books," she described the project.
