Former Nairobi County Speaker Beatrice Elachi, on Sunday, August 31, narrated how her troubles at City Hall spilled over to her household.

In an interview on The Hot Seat, Elachi narrated that her 12-year-old daughter informed her that she was terrified when she learned that Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko was moving to a house next door.

Prior to the development, Elachi narrated how she had to calm her daughter down after she wondered whether City Hall employees always showed up to work drunk.

"I remember my daughter who is 12 asking me 'Why is it that you people go to work while drunk? What is all this fight for?' From that time, I started thinking about how to leave this job.

"At one point, where the house of the governor was, we are just near, When they (kids) realised he (Sonko) is coming there, they were terrified and they told me 'mom, we are moving,'" she recalled.

While advising the governor, Elachi observed that Sonko had grown fearful to a point that it was hard for him to have dinner openly with people.

The former speaker recounted an incident in which the governor had gone to State House and demanded to be given a different microphone from the other speakers.

She explained that Sonko always feared being poisoned and would not take a meal without demanding special proof.

Elachi, however, pointed out that there was no bad blood between her and the governor advising him to tone down what she described as his boastful tendencies.

Nairobi Metropolitan Services

Elachi praised Nairobi Metropolitan Service (NMS) boss Mohammed Badi for carrying out his mandate quietly as opposed to Sonko who she claimed invited cameras in all his undertakings.

"Badi doesn't need to come on TV to say what he has done. People will be asking him, we have seen Michuki Park, We have seen the roads. We have seen the sideways and he will explain. The actions speak louder," she stated.

On her resignation, she explained that she did it early morning to signify that she was resolute in her decision and explained that she had not been offered another post.

She noted that she was now concentrating on her other ventures including farming.
