Two factions of MPs clashed over donations sent by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto in front of mourners at a funeral in Murang'a County on Wednesday, September 16.
This squabble highlighted the depth of the wrangles within the Jubilee Party, with the two factions each claiming superiority.
Kangema MP Muturi Kigano arrived with Ksh1 million given by Kenyatta to support the family that lost five members in a grisly accident.
The MP claimed that the Head of State summoned him to State House where he committed to helping the family.
He, however, picked a fight with DP Ruto allies, MPs Alice Wahome (Kandara) and Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu), when he stated that the President did not require assistance in financing the burial.
The MP further accused DP's allies of touring his constituency without informing him.
Ndindi Nyoro and Alice Wahome, who presented the DP's Ksh300,000 donation hit back, with Nyoro asserting that the incident touched him personally and he was also honouring Ruto's pledge to support the grieving family.
Wahome on her part, condemned the public spat, arguing that all Kenyans enjoyed the freedom of assembly and expression.
On Wednesday night, September 16, while speaking with Citizen TV's Jeff Koinange, Wahome affirmed that Jubilee Party was divided.
"We have disagreements and we have called for meetings to end these wrangles but none has ever been honoured. We believe in Jubilee and we know that we shall bring the party members together again," Wahome detailed.
