  • Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ngeno on Sunday, September 27, attacked President Uhuru Kenyatta for allegedly dodging an advisory by Chief Justice David Maraga.

Ng'eno asked the President to obey Maraga's advice to dissolve Parliament after failing to enforce the two-thirds gender rule.

"What are the consequences that we can anticipate when the President of Kenya fails to dissolve Parliament? In my opinion, the President has no option, he has to dissolve Parliament.

"He should also stop sending people to court, there are reports that he sent people to court to interpret the constitution," said Ng'eno.

The MP noted that there are still other avenues despite the High Court suspending the recommendation by Chief Justice David Maraga to dissolve Parliament.

He added that there is still the Court of Appeal should the High Court suspend the advisory, and the Supreme Court, which will have Maraga decide on the contentious issue.

Ng'eno also claimed that Uhuru and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga are worried that the Building Bridges Initiative will die a natural death if Parliament is dissolved.

"I want to ask the President to stop playing a game of cards and dissolve Parliament. I know why the President and Raila do not want to dissolve Parliament.

"It is because of BBI, they know if they dissolve Parliament, BBI will die a natural death. This BBI will die with or without dissolving parliament," added Ng'eno.

This comes after Ng'eno was ranked second in a report released by Infotrak Research Poll on Sunday, September 27, on the best performing MPs.

The second term MP who came to parliament on a  Kenya African National Union (KANU) ticket, garnered 71.4% points to rank as the second-best performing lawmaker.
