A number of Kenyan politicians are well known to the public, have mass appeal and are always at the glare of cameras.
Some of them have siblings who are making waves in politics and business but live under their shadows.
They run family businesses and others are politicians too. However, they are not so vocal and sometimes pass under the radar.
Said Abdalla Joho
He is the elder brother of Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho.
Famously known as Alpha or Abu Joho, he has been described as a down to earth personality who loves to take a back seat from politics.
It is alleged that Abu runs the family business and is also the chief financer of Hassan Joho's campaigns.
Abu has often crossed paths with several law enforcers in the Coast who have accused him of wielding power and controlling Mombasa County in Joho's absence.
Muhoho Kenyatta
He is President Uhuru Kenyatta's younger brother and the son of first President Jomo Kenyatta.
Muhoho runs the family businesses and is rarely spotted at political events. Kenyatta trusts him as a close aide and once sent him to represent the government at the 25th memorial service of the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga in Bondo in 2019.
He drives power from behind the scenes and was credited with rebranding the National Alliance party (TNA) and also convincing Deputy President William Ruto to disband United Republican Party (URP) to form Jubilee.
Tom Kajwang and Moses Kajwang
The two are brothers and siblings of the late Homa Bay Senator Otieno Kajwang.
Tom Kajwang is the MP of Ruaraka while Moses Kajwang succeeded his brother as the Senator of Homa Bay.
The duo belongs to the Orange Democratic Party.
Beryl Odinga
Beryl Odinga is the younger sister of ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Her sister Ruth Odinga and brother Oburu Odinga are well known to the public out of being politicians and their constant support and defence of Raila.
She was appointed to serve at the Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company (NWSC) as a board member in January 2020.
Timothy Wanyonyi
Westlands MP Timothy Wanyonyi is the younger brother of Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula.
He is a lawyer by profession and has been ranked as one of the top-performing legislators in Kenya.
Wanyonyi is a close confidant of ODM leader Raila Odinga.
He was lauded for stepping in and running Kibra constituency at a time when the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth was ailing.
Michael Thoyah
Magarini MP Michael Thoya is the brother of Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi.
He is an alumnus of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, having studied Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
He has served as a Managing Director at Malindi Water and Sewerage Company worked at Coast Development Authority and Kilifi Mariakani Water and Sewerage Company.
Raymond Moi
Raymond is the elder brother of Baringo Senator Gideon Moi.
He is also the MP of Rongai. Raymond declined to take after his father's (Mzee Daniel Moi) mantle as the political leader and opted to lead the family and their businesses.
The legislator granted the power to his younger brother Gideon.
