President Uhuru Kenyatta's foreign trips increased by Ksh 57.6 million in the months of April, May and June 2020.

The Head of State travels to represent the nation in business trips, to secure fundings and to address organisations like the United Nations.

In 2015, the number of delegates he travels with sparked a heated debate in parliament after he travelled with over 40 delegates to France. 

Kenyatta has made over 60 foreign trips since he ascended into power. However, among the delegates he flies with, six have constantly been by his side.

Gecaga is President Uhuru Kenyatta's personal aide and his nephew. 

He took up the role in 2007 when Kenyatta was appointed Minister of Finance and Deputy Prime Minister in the Coalition Government. 

Gecaga manages the president's diary and facilitates his appointments, including clearances and confirmations.

He also helps coordinate the preparation of presidential functions, speeches, tours and visits 

Treasury CS

This is one of President Uhuru Kenyatta's most important docket. 

In February 2020, he appointed CS Ukur Yattani to take over embattled Henry Rotich who is facing a court case for embezzlement of funds. 

Kenyatta travels with Yattani while sourcing for funds. The CS signs documents associated with finance. He recently accompanied Kenyatta to France where he secured a loan worth Ksh 17 billion

In 2018, Kenyatta travelled with ex-CS Henry Rotich to the US. 

Foreign Affairs CS 

The docket projects, promotes and protects Kenya’s interests and image globally through innovative diplomacy.

It also advocates for a just, peaceful and equitable world.

Kenyatta used to travel with CS Monica Juma before she was transferred to the Defence Ministry. CS Amina Mohammed (currently Sports) also served in this capacity. 

CS Raychelle Omamo took up the duties and accompanies Kenyatta where she lobbies for Kenya's candidature in International Governance Systems, promotes Nairobi as a hub for multilateral diplomacy and facilitates Kenya's diaspora issues.

Kenyatta's personal bodyguard is tasked with protecting him. 

The soldier escorts Uhuru at any moment into a waiting car, opens doors, carries personal items like mobile phones and speeches. 

He also receives gifts or other items on behalf of the President.

Lieutenant Colonel Timothy Stelu Lekolool took over from Colonel Victor Mburu who had succeeded Colonel Peter Njiru. 

First Lady Margaret Kenyatta 

The First Lady accompanies President Uhuru Kenyatta on most of his official tours.

She also plays a supportive role to the Presidency and promotes national goals and values.

Margaret also lobbies for support for her own projects such as Beyond Zero Initiative.

Trade and Industrialisation CS

Trade CS Betty Maina took over the role from Peter Munya who was transferred to the Agriculture docket in February 2020. 

She accompanies Kenyatta on visits associated with Industrialisation. 

Industrialisation is a key part of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Big 4 Agenda.

While abroad, the CS negotiates trade and acts as Kenyatta’s advisor. 

She also promotes initiatives to promote Kenyan goods and services.
