A section of youth from Kawangware, Nairobi, blocked former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's motorcade on Sunday, October 4.
The youth demanded that the ODM Party leader address them as he was from attending a service at the United Ministries Church.
Odinga while addressing Kawangware residents insisted that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report will soon be released to the public.
He was accompanied by MPs George Aladwa (Makadara), Simba Arati (Dagoretti North), Denitta Agati (nominated), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Mpuri Aburi (EALA MP), Gertrude Musuruve (nominated senator), Justus Kizito (Shinyalu) and Maina Kamanda (nominated).
His impromptu stop attracted a large crowd that has been the new normal among politicians recently.
The crowds often throw caution to the wind as little or no Covid-19 guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health are observed with some even seen without masks.
Speaking during the church service, Odinga commended the spirit of Kenyans during the pandemic, but warned that the fight against Covid-19 is still on.
"I'm confident that with God's favour we will overcome the pandemic, and the devil will be defeated. I want to thank Kenyans for showing patriotism during this difficult period.
"I also want to thank the healthcare workers for putting their lives at risk to treat patients. We are not out of the woods yet, but I know we will unite and defeat the virus," said Odinga.
The African Union Infrastructure envoy also highlighted the corruption scandals currently rocking the country as he urged leaders to desist from graft.
President Uhuru Kenyatta, his Deputy William Ruto are among the many politicians that have attracted huge crowds around the country despite the Covid-19 threat.
