A new media couple has joined the likes of Lulu Hassan and Rashid Abdalla after Switch TV anchor Tony Kwalanda proposed to his fellow presenter Joyce Maina.

The proposal happened on Friday evening, October 9 the same night the station was celebrating 2 years since it was launched.

A  source at the TV station told Kenyans.co.ke that the staff were surprised as the twist was completely unexpected.

"It happened after the show, we didn't know someone would show up with a ring," they intimated.

Calls to reach the two love birds went unanswered and understably so.

"Tony Kwalanda put a ring on it, congratulations Mr and Mrs Kwalanda," Caren Kibet a sports anchor, expressed.

News about the couple hit the interwebs in September after Joyce teased her boyfriend in a photo on Instagram.

The photo received a lot of attention and speculations, forcing them to clear the air.

In a recent interview with Joyce's co-hosts on Chat Spot, Kwalanda revealed that he had been eyeing his fiancee who was conspicuously missing from the show that day.

Tony, who recently joined Switch TV from K24, is the host of a sports show called Monday Sports Centre.

Marrying someone in the same profession has its benefits like having common goals and understanding each other better.

That would explain the reason why some media personalities have opted to fish from a dating pool of their own professions.

Some have made their union public while others prefer privacy away from the nature of their work.

Waihiga Mwaura and Joyce Omondi, James Smart and Remmy Majala, Tom Japanni and Massawe Jappani as well as DJ John and Amina Abdi are some of Kenya's most popular media couples.
