Moments after President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga received the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report at State Lodge in Kisii County, digital copies of the report started circulating online.

This prompted the BBI Taskforce to warn Kenyans that the digital copies being circulated online, were fake.

"Dear Kenyans, please note that all digital copies of the Steering Committee’s BBI Report presented today are fake! There will be physical reports at the upcoming public launch and distribution nationally. Beware fake news peddlers," read the tweet that has since been deleted.

The deleted post left many Kenyans wondering if they should still trust the copies that were circulating online.

Critics of the BBI process such as Elgeyo Marakwet Kipchumba Murkomen, expressed fears that there could be a plan to amend the report that was presented to President Kenyatta.

"You want to amend it again before Monday? The President told you to share it with the public immediately. Upload it quickly herein like you did with the draft last time. Don’t worry I won’t come to Bomas to disturb you. We are sending a compliant Yes Man," Murkomen said in a tweet.

Minutes later, however, the taskforce clarified that the report handed to the Head of State and Odinga, could be downloaded on the BBI website.

"Dear Kenyans the Steering Committee handed over the BBI Report to President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga at Kisii State Lodge. Download #BBIReport at www.bbi.go.ke," reads the post.

Following the unveiling of the report, there will be an event on Monday, October 26, at the Bomas of Kenya, where the report will be launched and a breakdown of the proposal conducted.

The president has since urged Kenyans to read the report and asked leaders to refrain from using the document to divide Kenyans.

"I am requesting them that between now and Monday they should ensure the document is understandable. .. If you have a simple version put it in all or dailies so that as many Kenyans can see this version," the president stated.

In addition, the president stated that the report would ensure equity in the distribution of opportunities and resources, and end violence every electoral cycle.

On his part, the former Prime Minister stated that the document was a result of wide consultations.

"We had to find a way in this Constitution to isolate problems affecting the minorities and find a way of addressing them...from sharing of resources to land rights, infrastructure, minorities, management and value addition to resources," Raila stated.
