  • Billy Arocho Otungu is one of President Uhuru Kenyatta's longtime friends who also doubles up as a bouncer.

Arocho accompanied President Kenyatta during his visit to Kisumu on Thursday, October 22 which gave him and the security team a tough day controlling the crowd which was excited to meet the Head of State.

Serving as a private bouncer during Uhuru's public engagements and rallies from time to time, his work is to supplement the work of the Presidential Escort team when the need arises.

He can be seen at the front clearing the way and ensuring no one comes close to the president or his car.

Having been with Uhuru for over 10 years, he named his daughter after the Head of State's mother Mama Ngina.

The private security expert, is a twin brother to Radio Jambo presenter Fred Arocho, a popular football commentator.

The two are sports enthusiasts and often participate in local friendly matches and train together.

Arocho was pictured with President Uhuru earlier in the year when he accidentally bumped into the President when he drove himself to Nyayo Stadium to inspect the construction works in June.

“We did not plan to meet. I happened to be passing by and he spotted me. He asked me to join him,” he told the media.

The bouncer also renders his services to other VIPs and was part of the security team in BBI rallies at the start of the year.

During the Kitui BBI event, he protected Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria from being assaulted after he was kicked out by Governor Charity Ngilu.

"I personally often disagree sharply on most of Hon Kuria’s way of articulating national issues but I could never see any VIP regardless of political affiliations being mishandled the way this almost turning into," he stated after the event.

He has served as TNA Nairobi branch vice-chairman and was part of the Jubilee Campaign team in 2017.
