Radio is a huge part of many Kenyans' lives with listeners often forming a relationship with the radio presenters after years of tuning in at set.

The music plays a huge role in entertaining listeners and so does the banter between presenters and the chemistry as well.

Many radio presenters have enjoyed long careers on radio and a loyal following as well.

Here as some of the radio co-hosts who have stood the test of time.

 

Gidi and Ghost

Patanisho, a show which airs during the morning segment on Radio Jambo is one of the most popular segments on the radio in Kenya.

The popular segment has been hosted by musician-turned-journalist Gidi Gidi and Harambee Stars coach Jacob 'Ghost' Mulee.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke in a previous interview, Gidi Gidi disclosed how the segment grew to become a phenomenon of its own in regards to contemporary Kenyan culture.

Gidi intimated that he conceived an idea for the show a decade ago, stating it was his desire to bring something new to the Kenyan radio scene.

Patanisho has spawned several parodies and internet memes sparked by various on-air fights and reconciliations over the years.

The duo has hosted the segment for 10 years.

Maina and King'ang'i 

"Let me tell you Maina," is a phrase that has been inculcated in Nairobi urban talk as a way to start a conversation thanks to the famous radio duo consisting of Main Kageni and Daniel Ndambuki AKA Mwalimu King'ang'i.

Classic FM's Maina and King'angi show has been popular for over 15 years with the station playing on most Nairobi matatus during the morning commute.

They hold discussions on trending topics as well as hot button issues in society and have been maintained their popularity over the years.

In the latest Geopoll ranking for the month of April, March, and May 2020, the show was ranked the fifth most popular breakfast show.

Luchivia and Wilbroda

The duo of Jacqueline ‘Wilbroda’ Nyaminde and Francis Luchivya started off at Radio Citizen where they hosted the morning Jambo Kenya show.

In 2018, the two moved to Milele FM where they hosted the morning show at the station.

In September 2020, Comedian Captain Otoyo took over the Milele Drive show alongside Diana Tangut alias Presenter 001, replacing the radio duo.

'Wilbroda' and Luchivya, debuted another show the Milele Drive evening show on the same station airing from 8 p.m. till midnight.

Munai Generali and Tina Ogal 

Boasting of more than 15 years in radio, Tina Ogal and Munai General have been the hosts of Radio Citizen's Drive On/Drive On Reloaded show.

The duo holds captivating conversations for their listeners on matters arising in society and has managed to create a loyal following in the process.
