President Uhuru Kenyatta quietly made changes at the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) by replacing the Director General Mohammed Badi’s deputy.

When President Kenyatta appointed Badi in January, Enosh Momanyi was named NMS Deputy Director General.

However, a spot check by Kenyans.co.ke revealed that Momanyi has been replaced by Kang’ethe Thuku, who has recently been spotted inspecting projects alongside Badi.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta, Nairobi Metropolitan Services Director General Major General Mohammed Badi, Transport CS James Macharia, Nairobi Metropolitan Services Deputy Director General Kang'ethe Thuku, when they witnessed mixing and loading of Asphalt at the newly launched plant along Kangundo Road,” a post by the agency on October 11 hinting that Thuku had already taken over.

An insider told Kenyans.co.ke that Momanyi had been recalled to the Ministry of Lands.

He was seconded to NMS in January by Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua from the Department of Physical Planning where he is a Principal Secretary.

Before Thuku’s appointment as NMS DDG, he was the Interior Principal Secretary in the office of the President.

Moffat Kangi was appointed as the new Interior Principal Secretary in the office of the President.

On October 31, he was spotted inspecting the repair and construction of roads in Mukuru Kwa Reuben, Nairobi.

Plans to construct 19 hospitals in various estates in Nairobi are also underway, besides the upgrading of 5 more hospitals to Level 5 status to ensure access to health care.

The implementation of Nairobi’s transport infrastructure upgrade is being spearheaded by NMS Transport Secretary Engineer Michael Ochieng'.

Before being moved to NMS, he worked at the State Department of Transport of Public Works.
