Kenya's BBC US Correspondent Larry Madowo had a rather unpleasant interaction with a section of President Donald Trump supporters protesting in Atlanta.

The incident happened on Sunday, November 8 during a live coverage of the US election, where Madowo was trying to interview a visibly angry group of supporters. Most of the supporters declined to speak on camera, save for one who identified himself as David.

“Why are you here?” Madowo probed, but the interviewee, posed the same question back to Madowo.

David explained that he was out to raise concerns over what he termed as irregularities in the election results in which Joe Biden was declared the President-elect

The interview however took a different twists after Madowo sought to know how Biden’s win made the interviewee feel.

David argued that some individuals had not yet cast their votes, adding that Biden had not won. Madowo's argument on the contrary appeared to anger the interviewee and his associates who milled around Madowo.

Another protestor who was not captured on camera asked Madowo to let his interviewee express himself freely, without interference.

“Why are you fighting him, you asked a question, can you let him answer!” shouted the protestor.

Another protestor walked past Madowo, and hurled unprintable insults for which Madowo apologised to viewers.

Shortly after the Trump supporters started shouting, making his interview inaudible, thus forcing him to cut it short.

It was then that David the interviewee forced himself on the camera shot insisting that Biden’s win was still contentious

According to US laws, a president is elected by 538 electors who form the Electoral College that ultimately decides the winner.

In the majority of the states, the electors are bound to vote for the most popular candidate in the state and the candidate who garners 270 votes wins.

The electors are expected to cast their votes of Dec 14 and according to the projections, Biden secured more than 270 votes.
