The widow and children of former Minister in Moi-era Joseph Kamotho are in a legal battle for the deceased 250 Million property.

Eunice Wambui Kamotho accused her children of hatching a plot to deny her administer the estate.

In her application filed before Family Court Judge Aggrey Muchelule, the widow stated that her late husband's medical bill which accumulated to Ksh 620,000 was yet to be paid, 6 years after he died.

Through her lawyers, Wambui also stated that she needed Ksh1.4 Million for her own medical bills.

She applied to be an administrator for the estate as she needed to access money for her treatment.

“Our application is very urgent and we pray for a ruling date. The proposed administrator (Wambui) is unwell and wants money for medical treatment. There is a property that ought to be sold and has found a buyer,” she told the court.

Objecting to the application, her two children Marianne Nyokabi and David Waweru called for an independent administrator of the property.

“There are sufficient funds in the estate to take care of the widow. The children have opposed her being an administrator,” the lawyer representing the two stated.

The former Minister had a will of how his estate would be shared. He, however, did not sign the document.

The family finally decided to file a succession case without a will with the mother claiming that she had tried to convince her children to give consent for the case to proceed but they had declined.

The siblings however stated that they had suggested three names for administrators but Wambui decided to file the case without their input.

Kamotho's estate which is estimated to be worth Ksh250 Million, with his wealth consisting of five parcels of land at Gacharage, and houses at Jadenville Country Homes, Kakuzi and Kitisuru.

He also owned shares in a number of companies.
