Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior has been named the best-performing Senator in the latest ranking by Infotrak released on Wednesday, November 11.
According to the survey, Mutula led the pack with an approval rating of 66.4%, with Kipchumba Murkomen (Elgeyo Marakwet) and Steve Lelegwe (Samburu) following with 58.8% and 57.2%.
Kwale’s Issa Juma Boy came in fourth-placed followed by Cleophas Malala (Kakamega), Fatuma Dullo (Isiolo), Aaron Cheruiyot (Kericho), Kithure Kindiki (Tharaka Nithi), Irungu Kang’ata (Murang’a) and Samuel Poghisio (West Pokot) closed the top 10 list.
Isiolo’s Fatuma was the only female senator on the top 10 list after being ranked 6th nationally, 2nd in Eastern and 4th among first-time senators after Lelegwe, Boy Juma and Malala.
Popular senators who missed out on the top 10 include Moses Wetangula (11) James Orengo (13) Johnson Sakaja (14), Ledama ole Kina (18), Susan Kihika (26), Gideon Moi (34) and Amos Wako (42).
In terms of youthful senators, Malala emerged top with Cheruiyot, Samson Cheragei, Sakaja and Anwar Loititip of Lamu following.
The survey which also ranked county assemblies named Makueni as the best performing counties.
Others were Embu, Baringo, Vihiga, Nyeri,Turkana, Elgeyo Marakwet, Kwale, with Bungoma, and Machakos tying at number 9.
Narok, Busia, Mombasa, Kajiado, Marsabit, Laikipia, Isiolo, Mandera, Homa Bay and Trans Nzoia were listed as the worst-performing county assemblies.
Some of the MCAs’ rankings showed sharp contrast with those of Governors released in October 2020.
While Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya was named the best performing Governor, the County Assembly was ranked 16.
However, Makueni County Assembly performed well just as Governor Kivutha Kibwana was named 3rd on the county bosses’ list.
