Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana made a grand entry at a funeral in his home county aboard Deputy President William Ruto's personal helicopter.
Residents of Kalamba Village rushed to the landing area as Kibwana stepped out of the DP's chopper, registration number 5Y DSN.
The Governor was accompanied by former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama who has been drumming up support for Ruto in his 2022 presidential bid.
Kibwana and Muthama were attending the burial of Sebastian Mailu, a son of Agnes Mailu, a former Makueni MCA.
The two used the opportunity to campaign against the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI); which the DP himself has been fighting tooth and nail.
“It is wrong to ask people to submit their signatures and to endorse the BBI report when they are ignorant on its contents,” Kibwana said.
They called out leaders from regions backing the BBI report saying that the community was largely ignorant on what the document contains.
“Those pushing for endorsement of the BBI should first seek views from the community on what is in the amended constitution that will benefit the community,” the Makueni Governor added.
The helicopter they used made the headlines back in February 2016, when a footage emerged showing Ruto's pilot harassing a female police officer in Nyandarua.
DP Ruto had flown there to attend a church service, and a huge mob came to see the helicopter.
This seemed to irritate the pilot leading him to confront a female police officer standing nearby. He wondered why she was not ‘doing her job’, and reached for her baton seemingly so he can do the job himself.
“Give me that… Well, then tell these people to move back.” he was heard saying after the officer refused to hand the baton to him.
