Just last week, TSC CEO Dr. Nancy Macharia indicated that teachers were allowed to use their medical insurance covers to for covid-19 related complications.

The commission's Head of Corporate Communication Beatrice Wababu told Kenyans.co.ke that the commission was also concerned about the increased cases and deaths.

“We are concerned about the statistics in our schools and country, but we have to abide by the directives from President Uhuru Kenyatta to keep the school open.

“We are doing everything possible and in our power to educate the teachers about how to handle themselves. We have also instructed teachers above the age of 58 or having underlying conditions to work from home,” she told Kenyans.co.ke.

As of Tuesday, the country had recorded 78,512 cases. Of this 52,709 had recovered and 1,409 had lost their lives.

The Ministry continues to urge Kenyans to wear their masks, wash hands regularly and practice social distance.
