More Deaths as Positive Cases Cross 80,000 Mark

Kenya has recorded 780 more Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours as the country's total caseload rises to 80,102.

In a press release on Thursday, November 26, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe noted that 6,158 samples had been tested.

Of the positive cases, 754 are Kenyans while 26 are foreigners.

460 are male and 320 are females. The youngest case is a one-year-old child and the oldest is aged 94 years.

552 patients have recovered, 468 from the Home Based Care program while 84 are from various health facilities. Total recoveries now stand at 53,526.

Regrettably, 10 patients succumbed to the disease bringing the total number of deaths to 1,427. 

In the county distribution, Nairobi recorded 273, Kiambu 93, Mombasa 86, Busia 85, Nakuru 40, Turkana 32, Uasin Gishu 20, Kilifi 16, Meru 13, Kajiado 13, Kericho 13, Kisumu 11, Nandi 10, Taita Taveta 9, Murang'a 8, Laikipia 8, Nyeri 8, Bomet 7, Trans Nzoia 7, Kwale 4.

Makueni 4, Machakos 3, Embu 3, Homa Bay 2, Elgeyo Marakwet 2, Tana River 2, Samburu 1, Baringo 1, Garissa 1, Nyamira 1, Marsabit 1, Kitui 1, Isiolo 1 and Siaya 1.

In terms of sub county distribution in Nairobi: Langata 43, Dagoretti North 40, Westlands 23, Kibra and Ruaraka 17 cases each, Starehe 16, Kamukunji and Roysambu 15 each, Kasarani 14, Dagoretti South, Embakasi West and Makadara had 11 cases each.

Embakasi Central 9, Embakasi North 9, Mathare 9, Embakasi East and Embakasi South had 5 cases each.

The Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, in a past press briefing, urged Kenyans to cooperate with the government by adhering to the set Covid-19 protocols.

He noted that the measures put in place would be the only defence mechanism for Kenyans to fight the second wave and to bring down the recent spike.
