A woman who claimed she had children with the late Matungu MP Justus Murunga has disclosed details of their relationship.

Agnes Wambiri, who came into the limelight when she sued Murunga's widows, said she and the deceased started a relationship when she was a food vendor and the MP was a supervisor.

"I used to sell him uji or tea every day before he fell in love with me," Wambiri told the Nation.

Following their courtship, the MP moved Wambiri and their two children to a three-bedroomed apartment, where she lives to-date.

The MP would continue to pay for the rent until his demise on November 14, at St Mary's Hospital in Mumias, Kakamega County.

"He loved me and his children. He is the one who named the last born when she was born in 2017. He had even told me that he would formalise our relationship with a customary wedding under the Kikuyu rites," Wambiri continued.

In a suit where Wambiri named Murunga's widows, Christabel Murunga and Grace Murunga as respondents, she stated that her relationship with the MP hit rock bottom when he became an MP.

She, however, indicated that they later resolved the matter.

Wambiri added that she was willing to relocate to Kakamega County if the deceased's kin allowed her to move in with them.

Senior Resident Magistrate Peter Muholi on Friday directed that Wangui and her children be allowed to participate in the MP's final sendoff.

The magistrate further allowed Wambiri to collect DNA samples from the MP's body to prove the paternity of her children.

The windows had moved to court seeking to have the orders lifted in a case filed by Wambiri.

They argued that the delay in the burial plans was causing the family unnecessary anguish.

The court has since allowed the burial to proceed.
