Kenya has recorded 551 more Covid-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours as the country's total caseload rises to 84,169.
In a press briefing on Tuesday, December 1, Health CAS Rashid Aman announced that 4,675 samples had been tested over the period.
Of the positive cases, 525 are Kenyans and 26 are foreigners.
Of the cases, 301 are male and 250 are female. The youngest case is a seven-day-old infant and the oldest is aged 100 years.
At the same time, 266 patients recovered from the disease, 206 were discharged from the home-based care program, and 60 from the hospital around the country bringing the total number of recoveries to 55,610.
Regrettably, 5 patients succumbed to the disease bringing the total number of deaths to 1,474.
The distribution in terms of counties: Nairobi 212, Kilifi 39, Mombasa 35,Nyeri 33, Embu 30, Nandi 25, Machakos 22, Siaya 21, Kajiado 19,Kiambu 18, Lamu 16, Nyandarua 14, Turkana 11, Uasin Gishu 8, Taita Taveta 7, Kisumu 7 Meru 6.
Garissa 6, Kwale 5, Samburu 5, Murang'a 3, Mandera 2, Busia, Laikipia, Kakamega, Wajir, Tharaka Nithi recorded 1 case each.
The 212 cases from Nairobi come from Kibra 62, Lang'ata 32,Westlands 30, Dagoretti North14, Starehe 9, Embakasi South and Makadara 8 cases each, Embakasi West, Kamukunji and Ruaraka 7 cases each.
Dagoretti South, Embakasi Central and Kasarani recorded 5 cases each, Mathare 4, Embakasi East and Embakasi North and Roysambu 3 cases each.
During the press briefing, Aman reiterated the Covid-19 protocols that were issued in regards to weddings and funerals.
He noted that funeral services will now be limited to 100 people and only 15 close members of the deceased will be allowed at the gravesite.
Duration of the service must not exceed an hour and no food is to be served.
For weddings, he stated that only 50 people are allowed to attend and no food to be served except to close family members.
He urged Kenyans to adhere to follow the measures in order to fight against the pandemic.
