Record 11,324 Patients Recover from Covid-19 in 24 Hours

A record 11,324 patients have recovered from Covid-19 making it the largest number of recoveries since the pandemic started.

Out of recoveries, 11,177 were discharged from home-based care program and 147 from the hospital around the country bringing the total number of recoveries to 67,788.

At the same time, Kenya has recorded 1,253 more Covid-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours as the country's total caseload rises to 86,383.

During a briefing at KMTC on Thursday, December 3, Health CAS Rashid Aman announced that 10,170 samples had been tested over the period bringing the total number of samples tested so far to 911,596. 

Of the positive cases, 747 are male and 506 are female while the youngest case is a one-year-old and the oldest is aged 98.

Distribution by counties, Nairobi leads with 326 cases followed by Mombasa 145, Kilifi 105, Kiambu 86, Murang'a 67, Meru 45, Kirinyanga 43, Makueni 36, Migori 35, Embu 34, Laikipia 32, Nakuru 26, Machakos 25, Kitui 24 and Taita Taveta 20.

Bungoma county recorded 19 cases, Siaya 18, Lamu 17, Nyeri 17, Uasin Gishu 14, Kajiado  13 ,Garissa 13, Kisumu 12, Nandi 12, Tharaka Nithi 11, Bomet 11, Homa Bay 10 and Busia 7.

Kwale, Kakamega and Samburu counties are reported six cases, Nyandarua 5, Kericho 4, Isiolo 3 and Turkana 2.

Regrettably, 16 patients succumbed to the disease bringing the total number of deaths to 1,500.

1,200 patients are admitted to various health facilities countrywide with 7,755 on Home Based Isolation and Care.

73 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 31 of whom are on ventilatory support and 41 on supplementary oxygen. 16 are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
