The Jubilee Party has indicated that at least six of its aspirants risk being locked out of the August 8 General Election following a petition for the leaders to be investigated over integrity issues.
Those affected include Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Mike Sonko, Uasin Gishu governorship hopeful Zedekiah Buzeki, Embakasi Central MP John Ndirangu, Belgut aspirant Nelson Koech, Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi and Uasin Gishu Woman Representative aspirant Peris Simam.
Jubilee Secretary-General Raphael Tuju on Thursday indicated that the party was investigating the matter.
He warned that if found guilty, the aspirants would be disqualified even if they win the party primaries slated to kick off on Friday.
“We are investigating, and if we find you fail to meet any of these qualifications, even after the nominations, we will disqualify you,” Tuju stated.
The politicians are being accused of different cases of misconduct ranging from possessing false academic papers, corruption and criminal charges.
Mr Buzeki is in trouble with some voters who have questioned the credibility of his academic qualification.

On his part, Sudi was charged on October 6, 2016, for an offence of having forged his academic papers during the 2013 General Election, a case that is still pending in court.
The Uasin Gishu aspirant was reported by a petitioner who alleged that in 2016, she was convicted of corruption and jailed for a month before paying a fine.
This comes a day after the Jubilee Party National Elections Board disqualified Nyeri gubernatorial aspirant Thuo Mathenge over a questionable degree.
