They proceeded to arrest the patrons and the management but the group became rowdy and some escaped custody. Those who fled are reported to have started throwing stones at the police vehicle forcing the police to retreat with two men in custody.

Soon after, gunshots were fired at the police car penetrating through its metal body. It is then that the deceased met his end, resulting from bullet wounds to his chest.

The man was allegedly shot in a police vehicle, which was in transit to Huruma Police Station

The deceased died before an ambulance arrived at the scene. The incident was filed under the OB Number 02/07/12/2020.

The Covid-19 pandemic has brought about a number of deaths and injuries linked to curfew enforcement.

On the night the initial curfew was announced, the National Police Service came under criticism after widespread cases of brutality against citizens who flouted the curfew.

Inspector General Hilary Mutyambai has warned his officers against use of unnecessary force saying they would be held personally liable where there are excesses.

Mutyambai had also ordered Covid-19 flouters to be fined an Ksh20,000 instant fine as a way of reducing congestion in police vehicles and cells.
