"On behalf of myself and the people of Machakos, I pass my condolence to the family of our beloved Senator Boniface Kabaka who has gone to be with the Lord due to the effects of a stroke arising from a blood clot that has been bothering him for a while," he stated.

On his part, Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko eulogised the senator as a passionate and hardworking legislator.

"It is with profound shock and sadness that I have learnt of the passing of Hon. Boniface Kabaka, the Machakos County Senator. Senator Kabaka has been a long time friend, a passionate legislator who cut himself out as a dependable defender of Devolution," Sonko wrote on his Facebook page.

The senator was rushed to hospital on Friday, December 4, after he collapsed while in the company of a high school teacher at 3Dee Apartments in Nairobi's Kilimani area.

At the time, he is said to have been in the company of Esther Muli, a teacher at Mathemba High School in Kathonzweni, Makueni County.

Muli was arrested on Monday and was expected to face charges of attempted murder.

She was, however, released on Wednesday after vomit samples analysed at the Government Chemist revealed that there were no toxins fed to the lawmaker as had been earlier speculated.

Kabaka was a graduate from the University of Nairobi, having attained a doctorate in Philosophy (PhD) Finance Law.

The first time senator was also a part-time lecturer at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa as well as a senior partner at Kabaka and Associates Advocates.
