Kenya Records 349 More Covid-19 Cases

Kenya has recorded 349 Covid-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours as the country's total caseload rises to 94,500.

In a press statement on Sunday, December 20, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that 5,025 samples had been tested in the last 24 hours. The country has so far conducted 1,008, 518 Covid-19 tests. 

Of the positive cases, 230 are males and 119 are female. The youngest case is an 11-year-old and the oldest is aged 98 years.

334 are Kenyans while 15 are foreigners.

At the same time, 176 patients have recovered with 155 discharged from the home-based care program and 21 from the hospital around the country bringing the total number of recoveries to 75, 735.

Regrettably, 6 patients succumbed to the disease bringing the total number of deaths to 1,639.

Currently, there are 831 patients admitted in various health facilities countrywide and 5,834 on Home Based Isolation and Care.

52 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 25 of whom are on ventilatory support, and 24 on supplemental oxygen while another 3 are on observation.

Another 28 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen out of whom 23 are in the general wards. 5 are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

The distribution of cases in Counties is as follows; Nairobi 156, Nyeri 34, Kirinyaga 30, Meru 27, Uasin Gishu 25, Mombasa 17, Kiambu 15, Busia 13, Nandi 7, Murang'a 6, Nyandarua 4, Machakos 3, Garissa 2, Kisii 2, Trans Nzoia 2, Tharaka Nithi 1, Turkana 1, Kajiado 1, Nakuru 1, Embu 1 and Laikipia 1.
