A Jubilee Party insider Kanini Kega has challenged Deputy President William Ruto to exit government and focus on popularising the newly rebranded United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Kieni MP Kanini Kega became the first politician allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta to respond to the revamping of UDA by the DP's allies, including the use of the wheelbarrow as the official symbol

Speaking in his Nyeri, Kega termed it untenable for the DP to continue enjoying the perks of the office granted under the Jubilee Party yet still promoting the activities of another party through proxy.

The MP called on Ruto to tender his resignation so as to ignite his 2022 campaign engine.

Drawing from the Christian analogy, Kanini voiced that the DP should profess one doctrine, saying that he was posing as a Pentecostal in the morning and a Catholic in the afternoon.

The Chairman of the powerful National Assembly's Finance and Budget Committee called on the Registrar of Political parties to intervene as one cannot belong to two parties legally.

The wheelbarrow-branded party makes clear the cracks within the Jubilee camp, with a number of Ruto's associates posting the party symbols on their social media pages.

The deputy president's faction was blocked from the Jubilee Pangani headquarters with the Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju hosting a press conference to notify the public of the move earlier this year.

The Ruto-team later leased offices ain Nairobi's Kilimani which they branded as Jubilee Asili Centre. They have reportedly been evicted by the landlord

UDA, previously identified as the Party for Development and Reform (PDR), uses the same colors that were used by the Ruto-led United Republican Party (URP) which merged with other parties to form the Jubilee Party.

PDR, which is largely associated with the pastoralist communities, previously used the bull as its political symbol.

Incidentally, UDA was founded in 2012 by the current Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju - initially as the Party of Action (POA). It changed hands and rebranded to PDR.
