Kenya Records 106 More Covid-19 Cases

Kenya has recorded 106 more Covid-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours as the country's total caseload rise to 96, 908.

Currently, there are 617 patients admitted in various health facilities countrywide and 2,964 on Home Based Isolation and Care. 

In a statement on Monday, January 4, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that 3,315 samples had been tested over the period bringing the total number of samples tested so far to 1,059,006.

Of the positive cases,77 are male and 29 are female while the youngest is a nine-year-old child. The oldest is 70.

From the cases, 97 are Kenyans while 9 are foreigners.

Today, 184 patients have recovered from the disease, 131 being from the Home-Based Care Program, while 53 have been discharged from various hospitals. The total recoveries now stand at 79,257.

Unfortunately, 1 patient has succumbed to the disease bringing the cumulative fatalities to 1,686.

28 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 13 of whom are on ventilatory support, and 12 on supplemental oxygen. 3 are on observation. 

Another 19 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen and 19 are in the general wards.

Distribution of the cases by Counties is as follows; Nairobi 87, Uasin Gishu 5, Kiambu 3, Busia 2, Kajiado 2, Mombasa 2, Machakos 1, Makueni 1, Kericho 1, Meru 1 and Kilifi 1.

In terms of Sub-county distribution; In Nairobi, 87 cases are from Westlands 10, Kibra 9, Embakasi West and Lang'ata 8 cases each, Embakasi East, Kamukunji and Starehe 7 cases each.

Makadara 6, Dagoretti North 5, Dagoretti South 4, Embakasi Central, Kasarani, Roysambu and Ruaraka 3 cases each, Embakasi North 2, Embakasi South and Mathare 1 case each.
