A 7-year-old boy stole the show during Deputy President William Ruto's rally in Bomet on Friday, January 15.
The boy dressed in traditional regalia was given an opportunity to address the crowd where he recited a poem.
The residents agreed with the boy as he recited the poem in Kalenjin language as some recorded video with their phones.
In his presentation, the boy hailed the culture of the Kalenjin community commenting on the love of the traditional foods including milk in a gourd (sotet).
At some point in his performance, the boy turned to the deputy president and addressed him to which the DP smiled in acknowledgment.
After he was done, Ruto stood hugging the boy in affirmation.
The event signified a truce between the DP and former Bomet governor Isaac Ruto, where Ruto gifted the latter a wheelbarrow.
"I have come with Isaac Ruto, the man whose party symbol is gumboots. Today we will give him a Wheelbarrow, then he disassociates himself with gumboots," the DP stated.
On his part, Isaac Ruto welcomed the DP to Bomet as he hinted at a possible collaboration.
"All is well in Bomet. (DP) these people are saying they will give you what you want (the Presidency) and in turn give me what I want (Bomet gubernatorial position)," Isaac stated.
During the rally, DP Ruto also dismissed claims by ODM leader Raila Odinga that the country should consider rotational presidency as an attempt to ethnicize the 2022 succession politics.
The DP added that the changes being pushed by the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) were not a priority for Kenyans at the moment.
“I want to tell these friends of ours that Kenyans know what is the priority for them. Kenyans know that changing the constitution and the creation of additional positions and seats for a few politicians is not a priority.
"The focus right is to attend to the needs of the ordinary people and the economy to make sure that every hustle counts,” he said.DP William Ruto (left) and former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto in Bomet on January 15, 2021.
