The drama involving former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama's family has taken a new twist after a woman claiming to be the politician's first wife, emerged with a statement criticising his family values.

Joyce Nzisa on Tuesday, February 2, painted a picture of a troubled family and sensationally claimed that one of her children was paid to make insulting remarks against Kavindu - Muthama's ex-wife who is seeking the Machakos Senatorial seat.

Speaking to the press, Nzisa stated that her five children including Alice Muthama, who previously made disparaging remarks against Kavindu were languishing in poverty.

She suspected that she and Kavindu's son, Moses Muthama, could have been paid to issue the controversial statement.

"I was deeply hurt when I saw my own daughter, Alice, on television lying about how good of a person her father is. How can a good person abandon his own flesh and blood? My third-born Janet Nthoki is in Nairobi living in abject poverty," she stated.

In addition, Nzisa stated that she was yet to receive any inheritance following her divorce from the politician which reportedly took place in 1991.

"Muthama took all my children (5) away from me when they were still toddlers...my life has been traumatic for over 30 years," she said, adding that she and the politician got married when she was 17 years of age.

"If he cannot take care of his own children, how will he help with the problems facing Ukambani people. I need my people to know the truth," Nzisa stated.

Nzisa added that she would be seeking audience with President Uhuru Kenyatta to share her woes with him.

The children, Alice and Moses, had claimed that Kavindu's bid to vie for office was selfish and politically driven to embarrass their dad.

"She has decided to publicly embarrass the family for her own political gain and benefit. Her actions are inconsiderate and disrespectful to us as a family. Her eldest daughter has said she hopes she does not win because that will be tantamount to the devil winning," Moses Muthama said of his mother.

Kavindu has since forgiven the children for the words they uttered against her and asked her supporters to pray to protect her offsprings from getting a curse.

"A lot of things have been said about my children. I take away all that has been said about them. I love them very much and I have forgiven them and I ask you to join me in prayer so that they do not suffer a curse. May God bless my children abundantly," she stated.

Kenyans.co.ke reached out to Muthama for a comment who stated that his children were grown and could speak for themselves.
