ODM Party leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday afternoon, February 2, hosted a section of MCAs drawn from the party at his Karen home.

The former Prime Minister defended the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) arguing that it sought to create, expand opportunities, and do the extra work in solving problems in the country.

Odinga said that he was waiting to hear if their political opponents would present better solutions than what the BBI they keep fighting proposes.

Raila wondered why his political opponents were busy politicking now, yet the 2022 elections are still more than one year away.

He blamed political bickering for the general anxiety that has engulfed the country, almost chocking it, something he said only gives the country only two working years - as three years are spent campaigning.

"The overall goal is to ensure equitable growth, ensure all citizens are involved in baking a bigger cake and everyone gets an equal share. Tupike, tulinde, tugawe kwa haki," said the ODM party leader.

"I am not convinced that the solutions we're offering should be discarded and replaced with wheelbarrows. Wheelbarrows won't make anyone rich, there's only so much that a wheelbarrow can do,"  stated Odinga.

BBI proponents argue that it seeks to eliminate marginalization in the country while enhancing equity among the people.

Odinga urged the people to support the BBI in order to end the cycle of poverty in the nation. He also affirmed that he is in support of the proposal to extend car grants to MCAs as he understood their challenges.

“It is not bribery, you’re entitled because of the work you’re doing," the ODM leader assured the MCAs who attended the event.
