Nyeri Deputy Governor Caroline Karugu was involved in an accident over the weekend on her way from Sagana State Lodge meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Karugu confirmed that she was well, but still undergoing medical checks just to ascertain that she is safe and sound.
“My doctors are doing the necessary investigations. Meanwhile, I would like to concentrate on getting better as my doctors have recommended,” she stated.
The deputy governor was heading home from the venue of the meeting when her official Toyota Prado hit a matatu after it made an abrupt turn.
Another vehicle, a Toyota Mark X saloon car, which was behind her rammed her vehicle from behind. No serious injuries were reported from the crash.
BBI Secretariat Co Chair Dennis Waweru and Kieni MP Kanini Kega came to the aid of Caroline and her team as they facilitated their travel.
In yet another incident, a VIP vehicle said to have been headed to the Sagana State Lodge allegedly hit and killed one Christopher Nderitu, a disabled man who was on a wheelchair.
The accident reportedly happened just 200 meters from the Nderitu's home. The family have been demanding justice as police continue to hunt down the vehicle involved in the accident.
Nderitu's widow, Fortunate Muthoni, has appealed to the police to acts swiftly and apprehend those responsible.
"My husband was disabled, and I do not understand how someone like him could die like that," she wondered.
