459 Hospitalised as Covid-19 Cases Hit 101,159

150 people have tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample size of 3,117 tested in the last 24 hours. This takes the total confirmed positive cases to 101,159.

In a statement on Wednesday, February 3, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe noted that 1,195,722 samples have been tested for the virus across the country. From the positive cases, 138 are Kenyans while 12 are foreign nationals.

95 are males while 55 are females. The youngest of the cases is a two-month-old infant while the oldest is aged 74 years old.

The Ministry of Health announced that 70 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus.

27 recoveries are from various health facilities across the country while 43 are from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program. The total recoveries now stand at 84,060.

3 patients have succumbed to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative fatalities in the country at 1,769.

Currently, 459 patients are admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 1,451 are on Home Based Isolation and Care.

26 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 11 of whom are on ventilatory support and 15 on supplemental oxygen. 

Another 16 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 12 of them in the general wards across the country. 4 patients are in the High Dependency Unit.

In terms of county distribution; Nairobi 101, Uasin Gishu 9, Garissa 6, Mombasa 5, Kajiado 4, Machakos 3, Meru 3 and Siaya 3.

Kisumu, Migori, Taita Taveta, Kilifi, Kiambu, Nakuru, and Kitui each had two cases, while Kisii and Trans Nzoia had one case each.
