More Deaths Recorded as Covid-19 Cases Hit 101,819

A total of 129 individuals have tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample size of 4,797 tested in the last 24 hours. This takes Kenya's cumulative confirmed positive cases to 101,819.

In a statement by Health CS Mutahi Kagwe on Sunday, February 7, the total tests conducted so far are 1,214,742.

From the positive cases recorded in the last 24 hours, 96 are Kenyans while 33 are foreigners. 105 are males while 51 are females.

The youngest case is of a four-year-old baby, while the oldest is aged 81 years.

Unfortunately, three patients succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, maintaining the total fatalities in the country at 1,779.

59 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus. 25 are from various health facilities across the country, while 34 are from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

The total recoveries now stand at 84,361.

There are 391 patients currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 1,378 are on Home Based Isolation and Care.

37 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 15 of whom are on ventilatory support and 18 on supplemental oxygen with 4 on observation.

Another 13 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with all of them in the general wards.

Nairobi has led the pack with 87 cases followed Uasin Gishu,12, Kiambu 11, Machakos 4, Kisumu 3, Isiolo 2, Kajiado 2, Laikipia 2, Bungoma 1, Kericho 1, Kilifi 1, Meru 1, Mombasa 1 and Nyamira 1.

The country has been recording a positivity rate of below 5% for several weeks now.
