More Deaths as Cases Rise to 102,221

A total of 173 individuals have tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample size of 3,784 tested in the last 24 hours. This takes Kenya's cumulative confirmed positive cases to 102,221.

In a statement on Wednesday, February 10, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe disclosed that the total tests conducted so far are 1,223,827.

From the positive cases recorded in the last 24 hours, 153 are Kenyans while 20 are foreigners. 111 are male while 62 are female.

The youngest case is of a one-year-old baby, while the oldest is 81 years.

Unfortunately, 2 patients succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, pushing the total fatalities in the country to 1,791.

186 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus. Two are from various health facilities across the country, while 163 are from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

The total recoveries now stand at 84,728.

There are 353 patients currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 1,283 are on Home Based Isolation and Care. 34 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 15 of whom are on ventilatory support and 17 on supplemental oxygen.

2 patients are under observation. Another 9 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with all of them are in the general wards.

In terms of County distribution; Nairobi recorded 133, Mombasa 7, Uasin Gishu 5, Kiambu 4, Nakuru 4, Machakos 3, Makueni 3, Migori 3, Kajiado 2, Kericho 2, Kilifi 2, Kisumu 2, Kakamega 1, Homa Bay 1and Siaya 1.

In terms of Sub County distribution; the 133 cases in Nairobi are from Dagoretti North (18), Lang'ata (14), Kibra (13), Embakasi West (10), Embakasi East, Kamukunji, Starehe and Westlands (9) cases each, Embakasi Central and Mathare (7) cases each, Ruaraka (6), Embakasi South, Kasarani and Makadara (5) cases each, Embakasi North and Roysambu (3) cases each, Dagoretti South (1).

In Mombasa the 7 cases are from Mvita (4), Changamwe, Jomvu and Kisauni (1) case each. In Uasin Gishu all the 5 cases are from Ainabkoi.

In Kiambu the 4 cases are from Juja, Kabete, Kiambu Town and Kikuyu with (1) case each. In Nakuru the 4 cases are from Nakuru East (2), Naivasha and Njoro (1) case each.
