Former Cabinet Minister Simeon Nyachae's widows eulogised him as a loving family man and dedicated civil servant, and also mourned that they will miss his love and comfort.

Martha Mwango and Grace Wamuyu spoke on behalf of the three other wives Druscilla Kerubo, Esther Nyaboke and Sylvia Nyachae during Nyachae's memorial service held at Maxwell Seventh Adventist Church (SDA) on Thursday, February 11.

Wamuyu said that Nyachae balanced his business and public service job, and while at home, he set clear boundaries, and urged the children to obey his guidelines. The widows praised their husband saying that his wisdom and guidance guaranteed success for all his 35 children

"I am grateful to have witnessed the close bond he continued to have with children until he rested. He also dearly loved our parents and honoured them and God blessed as the fifth commandment given to Moses in the bible says.

"He was my friend and companion for 50 years, and I will love and truly miss him until we meet again. May God protect your soul in eternal peace, my love," Wamuyu mourned.

She disclosed that she was the former MP's assistant during his hay days and he directed her on how to speak and interact with the public. At first, she was afraid of standing in the public, but even after he retired from public life in 2007, she continued to engage with the community and was his ear on the ground.

Wamuyu thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta and his mother, former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta, for visiting Nyachae while he was in ICU and at home before he passed on.

Martha Mwango thanked the gathering for standing with the family as they celebrated the life of her deceased husband. She said that the late equally loved all his wives and never quarrelled nor assaulted any one of them throughout their lives.

"He never disciplined his children physically. I used to do that. He went to be with the Lord and we pray God to be with him and us. Thank you for celebrating his last wedding with us," Mwango eulogised amid cheers and laughter from the audience.

Nyachae passed away on Monday, February 1, while undergoing treatment at the Nairobi Hospital. President Kenyatta led other leaders and Kenyans in mourning the former Nyaribari Chache MP. Kenyatta praised the politician for his successful transition from civil service, elective politics and business.

"Throughout his many years of service to the nation, right from his time in the provincial administration through to his transition into business and politics, Mzee Nyachae exhibited exemplary zeal to succeed and as he exits from this world, he leaves behind a rich legacy of success," the President eulogised.

Nyachae will be laid to rest at his home in Nyosia Village, Kisii County on Monday, February 15.
