Govt Announces New Training Intake For Teachers - How to Apply

The government through the Ministry of Education on Tuesday, February 23 announced the application for teachers training for 2021 intake across the country.

The public notice was issued by Julius Jwan, the Principal Secretary in the State Department for Vocational and Technical Training (VTT) asking applicants to apply for admission in the Diploma Teachers Training Colleges. 

Successful applicants will be trained in diploma for primary and early childhood development education.

Interested applicants should take note that the opportunity will last for only two weeks from Tuesday, February 23 and end on Sunday, March 7 2021. 

The application can only be done in person by accessing and downloading the application forms from the ministry of education official websites. 

Duly filled forms should be submitted to the County Directors of Education (CDEs) on or before the stipulated deadline.

According to the PS, the application is open to all Kenyans and those with special needs are mostly encouraged to apply. 

Applicants must have the following qualifications:

Diploma in primary teachers education ranging from grade 1 to 6, must have KCSE mean grade of  C (Plain) plain and must have a C (Plain) in English, Kiswahili and mathematics. They should also have a C (Plain) in one humanity and a C (Plain) in one science. 

For candidates with disabilities, the minimum mean entry grade is C- (Minus) and a C- (Minus) in the subjects named above. 

The duration of the course is years and will cover both coursework and practical lessons.

The trainees will also undertake assessments as directed by Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC).
