Wang'ondu allegedly then hired the driver to murder his son, giving a deposit of Ksh20,000 out of a contract sum of Ksh160,000.

The man later fled to Githurai 45, from where he was arrested by police.

Residents held protests in Mweiga over the murder demanding that justice be served and requested the court not to issue bail to the accused.

They described Mwangi as a hardworking 32-year-old businessman and expressed their gratitude that DCI investigations had revealed his killers.

Wang'ondu together with the driver and three others are in custody over the murder of the father of two.

The businessman’s body was found lying in a pool of blood on January 1 outside his home in Mweiga town.
