Bahati MP Loses Son after Months in Hospital

The family of Bahati Member of Parliament (MP) Kimani Ngunjiri is mourning the death of their son, Arthur Kinyanjui Kimani, who succumbed to a severe respiratory illness on March 1, 2021.

Kinyanjui passed away at Aga Khan University Hospital in Mombasa where he had been admitted for months.

The 32-year-old was admitted in mid-2020 with a severe case of pneumonia which had resulted in him being diagnosed with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS).

Confirming the news of his death, the MP said he was saddened by his son's demise.

"It is hard to accept that you are gone. RIP my last born son Arthur Kinyanjui Kimani," said Ngunjiri. 

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi mourned Kinyanjui as a hardworking young man. 

"Arthur was a very close friend whom we shared a lot. AK was a hardworking, tenacious, kind-hearted and ever-smiling young man. It is sad and agonizing that we lost him too soon. My thoughts and prayers are with the family during such tragic moments. Rest in eternal peace brother," he MP said

Molo MP Kimani Kuria described Kinyanjui as a man of the people.

"It is a sad morning to the family of my colleague Hon Onesmas Kimani Ngunjiri MP Bahati following the demise of his son Arthur Kinyanjui Kimani aka AK 47. AK was such a young man full of life and a man of the people," he said.

Deputy President William Ruto made a surprise visit to the deceased in hospital on Sunday, February 7, 2021.

"My thoughts and prayers are with you today. Your son will get cured," Ruto told the MP during the visit.  

Ruto sent his message of condolences to the MP's family asking them to find strength and comfort during this difficult time.
