400 Test Positive for Covid-19 As Fatalities Reach 1873

400 individuals have tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample size of 5189 tested in the last 24 hours.

This takes Kenya's cumulative confirmed positive cases to 107,729.

In a statement on Friday, March 5, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said that the total tests conducted so far are 1,322,806.

367 of those who tested positive are Kenyans while 33 are foreigners.

248 are males and 154 are females. The youngest is a nine-month-old baby while the oldest is 95.

A total of 77 patients recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, 27 from the Home-Based and Isolation Care while 50 are from various health facilities. 

Total recoveries now stand at 87,176.

Sadly, three patients have succumbed to the disease, pushing Kenya's cumulative fatality to 1,873.

A total of 494 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 1,615 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care. 67 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 24 of whom are on ventilatory support and 35 on supplemental oxygen. 8 patients are on observation.

Another 17 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with all of them in the general wards. No patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

In terms of County distribution ; Nairobi 279 , Kiambu 37 , Murang'a 9 , Kericho 9 , Kajiado 8 , Machakos 7 , Kisumu 6.

In Turkana 6 , Nyeri 6 , Busia 4 , Uasin Gishu 4 , Garissa 3 , Kilifi 3 , Kitui 3 , Kisii 2 , Makueni 2 , Siaya 2 , Vihiga 2 , Mombasa 2 , Nakuru 2 , Nandi 1 , Nyandarua 1 , Bomet 1 and Bungoma 1 .

In terms of Sub County distribution ; the 279 cases in Nairobi are from Starehe ( 51 ) , Kasarani and Kibra ( 25 ) cases each , Embakasi West ( 20 ) , Embakasi Central ( 18 ) , Kamukunji and Roysambu ( 16 ) cases each , Ruaraka ( 14 ) , Embakasi East , Embakasi South and Mathare ( 13 ) cases each , Lang'ata ( 12 ) , Dagoretti North and Makadara ( 11 ) cases each , Westlands ( 8 ) . Embakasi North ( 7 ) , Dagoretti South ( 6 ) .

In Kiambu the 37 cases are from Ruiru ( 8 ) , Githunguri , Kiambu Town , Kikuyu , Lari and Limuru ( 4 ) cases each , Juja and Thika ( 3 ) cases each , Kiambaa ( 2 ) and Kabete ( 1 ) . In Murang'a the 9

cases are from Kiharu ( 4 ) , Maragua and Mathioya ( 2 ) cases each , Kangema ( 1 ).

In Kericho all the 9 cases are from Ainamoi . In Kajiado the 8 cases are from Kajiado Central ( 5 ) , Kajiado North ( 2) and Kajiado East ( 1 ) . In Machakos the 7 cases are from Kathiani ( 5 ) , Athi River and Machakos ( 1 ) case each .

In Kisumu the 6 cases are from Kisumu Central and Kisumu West ( 3 ) cases each . In Turkana all the 6 cases are from Turkana West , while in Nyeri 6 cases are from Nyeri Central and Tetu ( 2 ) cases each , Mathira East and Mukurweini ( 1 ) case each.

In Busia the 4 cases are from Matayos ( 3 ) and Teso North ( 1 ) .

In Uasin Gishu the 4 cases are from Ainabkoi and Turbo ( 2 ) cases each . In Garissa the 3 cases are from Dadaab ( 2 ) and Garissa ( 1 ) . In Kilifi the 3 cases are all from Kilifi North . In Kitui the 3 cases are from Mwingi Central ( 2 ) and Kitui West ( 1 ) .

The 2 cases in Kisii are from Bobasi and Kitutu Chache South ( 1 ) case each , the 2 cases in Makueni are all from Mbooni , the 2 cases in Siaya are all from Alego Usonga , the 2 cases in Vihiga are all from Vihiga , the 2 cases from Mombasa are from Kisauni and Mvita ( 1 ) case each , the 2 cases in Nakuru are from Naivasha and Rongai ( 1 ) case each .

The case in Nandi is from Chesumei , the case in Nyandarua is from Olkalou , the case in Bomet is from Sotik and the case in Bungoma is from Tongaren .
