Isiolo residents are still trying to come to terms with the temporary closure of businesses and shops after two rival boda boda groups clashed.

The siege took place when one of the riders was abducted and later found murdered by unknown people.

In protest, the group of boda boda riders allied to the slain rider held protests in the town streets on Thursday evening.

What followed was a street fight between the rival boda boda groups and residents who joined in the protest.

The melee forced businesses to close to avoid getting caught up in the chaos that would result in losses.

Police commenced investigations into the disappearance and killing of the rider who was identified as Diba Osman.

According to witnesses, the victim was allegedly picked up from a garage in the town centre in a tuk tuk. He was thereafter beaten up by his captures before being taken to an unknown destination.

During his kidnapping, residents who were in the vicinity gave chase to the tuk tuk but they managed to evade them.

The victim's body was later found and taken to Isiolo Level Four hospital mortuary for a post mortem.

Addressing the chaos on Friday, March 5, Isiolo County Commissioner Herman Shambi disclosed that the garage owner, the rider of the Tuk Tuk and the owner had been arrested to assist in investigations.

He further appealed to the residents not to take the law into their hands.
