A German investor has fled to Tanzania following claims that his life is in danger after his Kenyan fiancé allegedly stole Ksh5.4 million from his private villa at Harbor Key Cottages in Malindi.
Reiner Kreplin accused his 24-year-old fiancé Mercy Adhiambo of hiring anonymous people to track his movements which forced him to seek refuge in the neighbouring country.
"I am currently out of Kenya for my safety because of the threats I was receiving from anonymous people who were always following me," Kreplin stated.
Further, he accused police officers of taking too long with the case, expressing worry about his trackers.
Malindi sub-county police commander John Kemboi noted that police were close to making a breakthrough in the case. He confirmed that Adhiambo was still on the run.
Kreplin narrated that he had just returned to Kenya with a huge sum of money to purchase another villa for 50/50 ownership with Adhiambo. He also sought to invest in an irrigation project and a recycling plant in Ganze constituency, Kilifi County.
The German investor detailed that he met Adhiambo, who was a waitress then when he visited Mombasa in 2019.
He revealed that he felt an instant connection and chemistry with her. One year later, the two moved together in Mombasa and planned to get married.
“Our relationship was special in chat and in person. We could laugh about the same funny situations and jokes she likes to make," he stated.
In September 2020, the German said he took Achieng to Zanzibar to celebrate her birthday. However, one morning, Kreplin couldn't trace Adhiambo after he went out for coffee at a restaurant. His Ksh5.4 million from his suitcase was also missing.
Kreplin is now requesting the Kenyan authorities to come to his aide and ensure that his girlfriend is brought to book.
