Defence Ministry Advertises Over 200 Jobs, How to Apply

The Ministry of Defence has advertised 200 vacant positions inviting qualified persons to apply.

In a notice on Tuesday, April 13, the ministry announced that the application process was open to the public until Monday, May 3, 2021.

The positions include plumbers (5), spray painters (7), panel beaters (5), welders (5), carpenters (8), electricians (5), vehicle mechanics (33), clerical offers (49), sanitary cleaners (51), drivers (11) and cooks (30).

All successful applicants will be entitled to a basic monthly salary of between Ksh 15,670  and Ksh 17,570.

They will also be entitled to a housing allowance depending on the area of deployment, commuter allowance of Ksh3,000 and leave allowance of Ksh4,000 once every year.

The employment will be on permanent and pensionable basis.

Requirements

As much as each entry has its on set of requirements, all the fields advertised have a common requirements including Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade ‘D’ plain or its equivalent from a recognized institution.

The notice also warned that canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification and that all people irrespective of gender, marital status, age, race. culture, religion and disability were free to apply for the positions.

How to Apply Online

1. All first-time users of the Public Service Commission (PSC) Online Recruitment and Selection system are required to register by providing ID / Passport Number, Surname, current Email address and a password to access the system.

2. To apply for any advertised job, log into the system using the ID / Passport Number and the Password created in (1) above.

3. The applicant must ensure that information pertaining to personal details, professional and academic qualifications, experience, membership to professional bodies, referees and any other relevant information is provided before submitting the application. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

4. While on the page, the applicants are required to complete one application form PSC2 (Revised 2016) and submit the same together with copies of the required certificates. Completed forms should be addressed to the Cabinet Secretary.

4. Applicants are advised to print and keep a copy of the Feedback Report (application summary) by clicking on the Report tab or Application Summary link on the Application Menu.

5. The Online Recruitment and Selection system allows applicants to amend/revisit their application(s) at any time before the closure date.
