The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has taken notice of teachers who went above the call of duty to deliver credible exams

Among them was Sosian High School Principal Magdalene Kimani who was featured for having to walk 20 kilometers daily to deliver exam papers to candidates in her centre.

Thanking her for her service on Thursday, April 15, TSC CEO Nancy Macharia commended her spirit of service to her students adding that she would not be punished as it had earlier been reported.

"I thank all the teachers who took part in supervising and invigilating examinations. We appreciate you.

"We all saw the story of the teacher in Narok (referring to Kimani) and I can assure you that we will not be punishing any teacher who goes beyond the call of duty to ensure the exams are credible," Macharia stated.

Following the story of Kimani having to walk for a long distance to deliver the exam papers to 18 candidates in her center, Education officials from Narok vowed to take disciplinary action against her.

A local publication also stated that she had been summoned to record a statement over the report.

While assuring that no disciplinary action would be taken against the teacher, the TSC CEO further stated that the teachers who had done an exemplary job would be rewarded after the exercise is conducted.

"We are just waiting for a report from KNEC on the conduct of the exams so that we can identify the deserving teachers," she stated.

She further stated that 92,246 teachers had taken the Covid-19 vaccine adding that President Uhuru Kenyatta had extended the order for all teachers to take the jab.

"The president has allowed all teachers to take the Covid-19 vaccine irrespective of their age. He agreed to have all teachers get vaccinated going forward," Macharia noted.
